Keep foam out of water fountain

Most recreational vehicles are not constructed to endure freezing temperatures. If a cold front is approaching, RVers can take precautionary measures to keep an RV water hose from solidifying. The most inexpensive, common sense step to take when cold weather camping is to fill your fresh water tank in preparation of disconnecting from your water supply. For campers who plan on enduring lengthy cold spells, special hose insulation materials are available at RV supply shops and hardware stores.

FST ™ closed-cell duct sealant provides superior pressure-blocking power in the toughest environments.  It stops methane and other gases to keep electrical systems intact.  FST ™ Duct Sealant is stronger, more chemically resistant, and cures 50 times faster than open-cell aerosol foams. The FST ™ seal has excellent adhesion to PVC, rigid steel, EMT, IMC, fiberglass and polyethylene conduits.  FST ™ is a proven solution that has been used for years to protect switchgear, panels, riser poles, combiner boxes, meters, and all types of electrical and telecommunication apparatus.  It creates a semi-permanent seal and is reenterable.

A properly constructed FST ™ seal is pictured on the left, installed in a transparent tube to show the structure of the seal inside the duct.  Damming strips are wrapped around the cables to create a void into which the two-part liquid FST ™ mixture is injected.  The damming strips help contain the FST ™ mixture at the mouth of the duct while it expands and hardens into a strong, resilient seal.  The damming strips also separate cables so that the expanding foam can flow around them to prevent leakage between them.  Inject the sealant with a high-ratio caulking gun for immediate protection of high-value network assets.

Food: Throw away food that may have come in contact with flood or storm water; perishable foods that have not been refrigerated properly due to power outages; and those with an unusual odor, color, or texture. Unsafe food can make you sick even if it looks, smells, and tastes normal. When in doubt, throw it out.

Water: Do not use water you suspect or have been told is contaminated to wash dishes, brush your teeth, wash and prepare food, wash your hands, make ice, or make baby formula. Safe water for drinking, cooking, and personal hygiene includes bottled, boiled, or treated water. Your state, local, or tribal health department can make specific recommendations for boiling or treating water in your area.

Thawed food that contains ice crystals can be refrozen or cooked. Freezers, if left unopened and full during a power outage, will keep food safe for 48 hours (24 hours if half full).

The trickling noise of water from your backyard water feature, such as a fountain or waterfall, can add a sense of tranquility to your home's landscape. Sometimes suds and foam can appear in your water feature, however. Don't let the foam affect the natural beauty of your landscape. While the causes for suds and foam vary, several tips can help you remove suds and keep them from returning.

Water from your garden hose or tap is rich in various minerals. These minerals can cake up your water feature's various parts and also increase the risks of bacteria growth and algae development. This in turn often leads to developments like slime on the bottom of your water feature and foamy bubbles on the surface of the water. By removing all of the existing water and replacing it with distilled water, you reduce mineral content and remove the many causes of suds, thus helping the problem to quickly correct itself.

Over time, the water in your water feature starts to experience a buildup of organic matter. This matter can come from various sources, such as leaves or bird droppings falling into the water. As this organic content concentration increases, the movement of the water feature creates suds on the surface of the water. Regular water changes help to remove the causes of the suds while also keeping it from recurring. For the best results, the water in ponds and similar water features should get changed at least every six months. Remove approximately 15 percent of the existing water and replace it with fresh water.
