Drink 10 glasses of water per day on

Everyone knows the old adage is true, right? “Drink 8, 8 ounce glasses of water a day!” You’ve heard it from your doctor, your nutritionist, your mom, the governor of all your health decisions (obviously none other than the Great and Powerful Oz!), every health book you’ve ever read, and of course, plenty of info-graphics going viral on Facebook, so, it must be true.

Because your body is 60% water, of course! (Or, was it 80%? Who cares! You’re basically nothing but water.) Your brain is made out of water! Water is the source of life! You need to drink more water to get rid of toxins! You need to drink more water to get pretty skin! You need to drink water to lose weight! If you think you’re hungry, you’re really actually thirsty! By the time you get thirsty, you’re already dehydrated! Coffee makes you dehydrated! Taking a shower makes you dehydrated! Breathing makes you dehydrated! If you don’t have clear pee, you’re about to die!!!

If this ain’t your first rodeo, and you’ve read this blog before (which isn’t exactly keen on many a mainstream health doctrinal standard), I bet you might be able to venture a guess as to what I’m about to say next.

A s you may know, I’m starting a BluePrintCleanse tomorrow morning. To prepare, BluePrintCleanse suggests that I drink lemon water first thing in the morning to kick start my digestive system. The water added to the lemon juice should be lukewarm, or as hot as I can tolerate. I decided to look into why this is recommended and after what I’ve learned, I’m thinking about making lemon water a regular habit.

Lemons are high in vitamin C, which is great for fighting colds.  They’re high in potassium, which stimulates brain and nerve function. Potassium also helps control blood pressure.

Drink lemon water everyday and you’ll reduce your body’s overall acidity. Lemon is one of the most alkaline foods around. Yes, lemon has citric acid but it does not create acidity in the body once metabolized.

Making drinking glasses from wine bottles has been around for years, and while it is relatively easy to cut a bottle, making a nice useful drinking glass is a little more difficult.

Yeah, I can go to Target and buy a set of glasses, but it is pretty cool to be able to use/recycle bottles that in many cases go in the trash.

And of course, you can always take pride in the fact that you made them yourself!

WARNING: There is the possibility of injury from broken glass when performing the steps in this instructable. Proceed at your own risk!

OK, safety first:

Wear gloves and eye protection!

There are many tools and methods you can use to cut a bottle; the cutter I used is all metal and I like it better than some of the plastic-framed models sold at craft shops. However, any jig that allows you to make a consistent scoring line around the bottle should be good enough.

This tool uses the scoring method which "cuts" a line around the bottle. Glass of course has a crystal structure to it and can't really be cut at room temp but rather broken in a controlled manner.

Once you score the line at a predetermined size you then move on to the next step.

Before you stick your glass in the dishwasher, you can also etch your initials on your glass to make it truly yours.

Or etch the glass with your sweeties' initials, making it a nice gift.

Of course, if you have a laser engraver, it is even easier and you can make some very intricate designs that way.

Cheers!

Drinking lemon water first thing in the morning is one of the most simple, yet profound health habits to cultivate. Personally, I was astonished to discover the cornucopia of health benefits locked inside the peel of the humble lemon–I never knew! For starters, the instant energy boost helped me to kick the coffee habit. Big kudos there! Other juicy surprises included: a more alkaline pH, brighter skin, better digestion, and a guaranteed morning visit to the loo!

Citric acid in lemon is highly electrically active, and pure water acts as a conductor to deliver electrolytes directly to your cells. It’s likened to a liquid sunshine burst that boosts cell energy and nourishes your adrenals for a clean energy output that sustains you throughout your day . This is why lemon water is so effective in helping people kick the coffee habit. Coffee is dehydrating and stresses your adrenals. Although you’re temporarily energized, this kind of dirty energy is actually very draining and depletes your body’s energy reserves.

True health warriors understand the importance of maintaining a proper pH balance within their tissues and organs. When your inner terrain is acidic, let’s say from eating a typical western diet comprised of meat, dairy, processed carbs  and sugar, bad fats, lots of coffee, and lots of alcohol (all of which are acidic), it’s hard to maintain good health. Symptoms of “acidosis” can range anywhere from achy joints, stiffness, insomnia, and depression to chronic disorders and major disease. Eeek!
